Arthritis
Today there are over 100 known types of arthritis, the most common being osteoarthritis, also called degenerative joint disease (DJD), gout, and rheumatoid arthritis. Arthritis, which basically means an inflammation of the joints, can cause severe pain and lead to permanent tissue damage over time.
Although symptoms may vary depending on the type of the disease, some of the most common signs of arthritis include:
- Pain and swelling within the joint
- Redness of the skin near the affected joints
- Stiffness
- Tenderness
- Warm skin near the affect joints
Other signs may include fever, a rash, and unexplained fatigue.
