Eating less is the key to losing weight

March 06, 2010 By: admin Category: Fitness & Diet, Weight Loss

Want to lose weight? Don’t eat … maybe!

USA has many states. Lots of things different from state to stare- laws, habits and so on but all of the states in USA have one common problem – people suffering from obesity and overweight. It seems like this issue is increasing and the number of people that want to treat themselves from it grows bigger. The problem of extra weight has been raised on TV millions of times, there have been plenty of talk-shows that involved doctors and medical candidates that explained how to get rid of this constant feeling of hunger but nothing really changes. It seems like the amount of people suffering from overweight is betting bigger though manufacturers have already introduced many different pills and treatment complexes for people that dream of losing weight.

From one point of view overweight is not an aesthetic issue. Yes, people do want to look good, strong but not ugly, but obesity takes this matter to another level as most of the time it causes health damages. There are many risks that people meet on their way while having extra weight on. They are diabetes, hypertension, pulmonary and cardiovascular diseases, even some forms of cancer. Times have a changed a bit and we are happy to say that overweight is not a subject of laughter anymore though it happens that kids at school are being cruel to their “big” mates. This usually harms self-esteem, bringing children down, making them feel like they are different in a bad way. One problem creates another and at the end of the day we have a person that is full of complexes and few reasons to go outside.

Beware weight loss products

March 01, 2010 By: admin Category: Tips, Weight Loss

In many senses, the world is a jungle full of savage animals prepared to rip you limb from limb. OK, so that’s a slight exaggeration but there are many different ways in which you are at risk, particularly if you buy weight loss and diet products through the internet. The problem is simple. Unscrupulous people who only want your money frequently make tempting offers over the internet. They make claims about the extraordinary properties of their products. The effect will be visible within seven days, turning you from a barrel into a breathtakingly slim model with members of the opposite sex drooling over your wondrous beauty. The merely dishonest people either disappear with your money or send you chemically inactive pills. Losing your money and being disappointed are part of your education. But the really dangerous people send you pills containing active ingredients. Now you have lost your money and may find the pills damage your health.

Before a manufacturer can launch a drug on to the market, it must go through clinical trials to prove it is effective and safe to use. The FDA will only license its release if the benefits of taking it clearly outweigh the possible dangers of unwanted side effects. But no clinical trials are required for diet and weight loss products. Anyone can produce a product, label it, market it and sell it to you without there being any scientific test to ensure it is safe. In this, the US is acting recklessly. No government should assume all manufacturers will act responsibly. The only action taken by the FDA is to take random samples of products and to discover what ingredients they contain. This department of the FDA is underfunded and years can go by before a product is tested. By then, it can be too late and many people may have been injured.

Genetics and weight loss

December 11, 2009 By: admin Category: Weight Loss

Look around the bookshops and read some of the reviews for the latest books on weight loss and there’s a new buzzword on offer. It seems the genes you inherit from your parents change the way your body absorbs fat and carbohydrates. Gone are the days when a one-size-fits-all diet would sell like the proverbial hot cakes (unsweetened, of course). Now we are into the idea of personalized diets with DNA kits and gene testing offered as the way of designing the most effective way for you to lose those unwanted pounds. Except, there’s no science to support any of these claims. Myths help separate you from your money. The truth remains boring and does not sell many books.

Let’s start with the facts. The science of genetics has been around for centuries. Farmers, sports fans and governments have been selectively breeding animals (and plants) for their taste, speed or killing abilities. The results can be seen everywhere you buy food, on the race track, in the police and military compounds, and so on. There’s nothing new in aiming to select characteristics to transmit through the generations. And that’s where the science stops and the science fiction takes over. Although some scientists can now identify individual genes that may contribute to different characteristics, there’s no such thing as gene splicing – no designer babies for us humans to order – and no proven link between any combination of genes and human body weight.

Weight loss problems start in the brain

November 22, 2009 By: admin Category: Weight Loss

Obesity is a widely-popular problem that unites people from different nations and different countries. Over the past decades we have read many articles about this disease and the ways of losing weight without having any further trouble but most of it seemed to be useless as the obesity problem still exists in the world of today. Many doctors prescribe various pills and medications that are meant to hold the food-dependent adults away from it. Some of the obesity sufferers reach the peak of the illness. That is where they should take it as seriously as possible and treat it more as a sickness than a simple food dependency.

We don’t really know how many different obesity treatments are there but we do know for sure there are plenty enough of them to choose from. Some of the drugs are short-term ones and are meant for those people that are at the first stage with the treatment. Those short-term pills are less dangerous and have a capsule-shaped size. These drugs can be bought in strengths of 15, 30 and 37.5 milligram.

How do the obesity release drugs work? What such a pill does is suppress your appetite to the minimum through the central mechanism in the brain of the person. Many doctors that are dealing with obesity on the daily job basis insist that it all starts in the head. They claim that any type of dependency can be eliminated if you work with people’s head and sort it out.
